About Me
I keep the group small with no large difference in age range; infants – age 4. I offer a homey atmosphere with LOTS of TLC. I want the kids in my care to feel “at home” as much as possible. Rest assured that I will do everything I can to make your child’s stay in my care safe and fun, as well as a great learning experience.
I have been a family home childcare provider for the past 30+ years, and have also been a part-time nanny for the past 10. I’ve attended many classes over the years in Early Childhood Education and Child Development, and I’ve had CPR and first aid training as well. The meals I serve your children (breakfast, lunch and snacks) are nutritional as well as “kid friendly.” I love to cook, so the kids get to enjoy some wonderful home-cooked meals, too.
I strongly believe that young children, in particular, need a lot of one-on-one nurturing, and they definitely get that here! The kids in my care have fun playing, as well as learning, with friends. One of my goals is to teach children love and respect for others, as well as for themselves, and they learn much just by interaction with me and with each other. They learn to follow directions and simple rules: patience, manners and how to treat others, and much more. I’m very big on teaching these little guys and girls the rights from the wrongs and all the social skills we all have to learn to become a positive, loving part of society.
I also work with them on basic learning (numbers, letters, shapes, etc), we read books, do art activities and many other fun things. I have added a simple pre-school program, which is developed especially for children ages 2 – 4. It’s a flexible, three-day-a-week program, and we work according to how well the children are able to focus and pay attention on a given day. What we don’t finish here is sent home; I’ve discovered that having “homework” is actually fun for kids this age! ?
I love children and enjoy helping them learn and grow. I believe I have a great deal to offer and that I make a difference in the lives of the children in my care.
